Clarity. Advocacy. Progress.
The Michigan Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons (MiSEPS) is the voice of ophthalmology in Michigan. Representing board-certified eye physicians and surgeons across the state, we are committed to protecting the profession and ensuring that every Michigander has access to high-quality medical and surgical eye care.
As a trusted resource for patients, providers, and policymakers, MiSEPS combines clinical expertise with a strong legislative presence to advocate for the profession and the individuals who depend on it.

Advocacy
MiSEPS is dedicated to ensuring that Michigan citizens have access to high-quality, medically-driven, affordable, and accessible eye care. We advocate at both the state and national levels — in Lansing and Washington, D.C. — to protect and advance the standards of ophthalmic care. We also work to raise public awareness on critical eye health issues through regular press releases on topics such as the importance of screenings for cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and other potentially blinding conditions.
Education
The MiSEPS Annual Conference is a premier educational event for ophthalmologists across Michigan and beyond, dedicated to delivering the latest advancements in state-of-the-art patient care. We also support Continuing Medical Education (CME) by partnering with top ophthalmology programs throughout the state, including the Corewell (William Beaumont) Hospital, Henry Ford Health System, Michigan State University’s Consortium of Osteopathic Residencies in Ophthalmology, University of Michigan’s Kellogg Eye Center, and Wayne State University’s Kresge Eye Institute.
Service
Service is a core part of our mission. MiSEPS organizes and supports annual vision screenings and evaluations for uninsured and underserved communities, in partnership with organizations like the St. Christine’s Soup Kitchen, the Korean American Association, the Malta Clinic and Focus: HOPE in Detroit and around the state. These efforts are supported by local physician practices and residency programs that provide follow-up care and treatment to those in need. MiSEPS also works with the Governor of Michigan and the Michigan Legislature each May in addition to collaborating with community leaders. .
